How to make otterbox screen protector closer to the screen?

I have the otterbox defender for the thunderbolt and the screen protector kind of forms a small arch over the screen, letting dust in the top and making it harder to type. It almost seems like the screen protector isn't pulled tightly enough between the sides, so it makes a tiny arch. Any ideas how to get it to lie flat on the screen? And also does anybody else have this problem, because maybe its a defect and I can send it back to otterbox and get a new one. Thx in advance!
