How many can you fit onto a i-pod touch with eight gigabytes?

8gb of room (on any unit) will fit around 2,000 songs if that's the only thing on it, but if you're getting the touch, no one can determine how many songs you can fit, because none of us know how many apps, photos, and games you're going to upload onto the ipod.
