Do we need to be told the truth about the EU?

When was the last time someone mentioned the EU who wasn't a swivel-eyed fanatic who believed it to be some sort of fascist conspiracy? Do you know enough about it? I don't. If there was a referendum, I would vote to stay in simply because those against it are so obviously crazy and have to resort to flag-waving, xenophobia and silly lies (the EU is an imperfect democracy; not a dictatorship). Thing is, I could be wrong. Is it about time both sides were allowed to give a sensible, balanced argument so we actually could decide whether it was good or bad for the country? If the EU is so awful, how come only extremists and bigots are against it? And if it is so great, how come no-one ever stands up for it? Your thoughts, please?
